And briefly...

Social and Corporate Teams have ONE training session included in their registration. Once a Social or Corporate team's registration donation is completed they will be able to select from a choice of dates and times for their training session. We will provide each team with the link to make an onlinebooking for the training times. Any queries should be addressed to regatta@dragonsabreast.org.au
Teams opting to be trained by a dragon boat club other than Dragons Abreast will be issued with Training Vouchers to pass on to their trainers in order to facilitate boat hire and trainer fee payment.
Should any team desire additional training sessions, these can be arranged at cost.
The training will all take place at Cullen Bay marina which is home to Dragons Abreast NT and Arafura Dragons.
Most training sessions are held at the Bank St., Pyrmont paddling venue. For teams not based in the city please enquire as there are several venues further out of the city or in the regions which may suit some teams better.
Due to safe boat handling requirements (the boats weigh 250kg each) training sessions may not proceed with fewer than 16 team members present.
For safety reasons all paddlers are required to attend at least one training session unless they have attended such a session in previous years (rare exceptions only please contact regatta@dragonsabreast.com.au to arrange an alternate time).
Training times are ON WATER times - so paddlers need to arrive 30 mins prior in order to arrange paperwork, paddles, PFDs, seating and loading the boat.
Sydney Paddlers should allow approx 2.5 hours for each session. Training sessions will proceed in all weather conditions except lightning and gale force winds. As weather conditions are always changeable, please attend the venue as scheduled - often unpromising conditions do dissipate and training can proceed as planned.
The main paddling venue is directly under the ANZAC Bridge at Pyrmont. Please be sure to arrive on time and ready to paddle - and preferably not in a car as parking is limited, both at the site and on-street (watch the parking meters).
By Public Transport: Catch the light rail from Central Station and alight at the Sydney Fish Market. From there it is just a short walk towards the ANZAC Bridge along Bank Street, Pyrmont. Continue towards the bridge pylon, past the turnoff to the Fish Market parking lot until you come to a gate to a large open area on your left with a cyclone wire fence.
By Car: Follow the signs to the Sydney Fish Market and you will find yourself on Bank St Pyrmont. Continue along Bank St towards the ANAZC Bridge pylon, past the turnoff to the Sydney Fish Market parking lot until you come to the gate mentioned above.
We strongly recommend car pooling!
